“Coincidentally” I started in Luke 6 this morning where it was titled “Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath” ( “The Son of Man is the lord of the sabbath” ~Luke 6:5) Even Jesus knew rest was important. His actions and teachings highlighted that the Sabbath was made to benefit humanity (Mark 2:27). To me Shabbat means taking time to rest in Jesus. Resting from physical and mental toiling over things in our life and trusting him over those things. I believe that during times of rest, when we are resting in Jesus and spending time in His presence, we receive clarity, revelations, and new ideas. We regain and build the strength to take on that new season or assignment that comes. While I believe we should always schedule and make time for needed rest, I also think that if you allow yourself to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, God will tell you when it is time for Shabbat!
