Hi Paula.
In this dream I would start with the obvious, being held captive. Captivity is representative of having fallen into sin, bound by iniquity, under demonic oppression and/or under the influence of a dominant personality per Lam 1:5, Amos 1:6, Acts 8:23, Matt 12″29, Mark 3:22-27, Matt 20:25.
If neither of the above apply, then consider that there’s a hindrance in an area of your life that the Lord would like to set you free from.
In bible study, we’re studying John Beveres book The Bait of Satan where John exposes how we get trapped in offense (great book btw). There is so much we’ve learned but one tool that has become my go to is to turn the mirror back on myself, meaning I first seek to understand why whatever just happened or was said to me made me feel the way that it did. (May not have been described this way in the book, but it was how I internalized it to fit my ability to understand and make it applicable in my life). Anyway, this helps me to search the root of why it offended to begin with. For example; if someone called me a failure, it would only injure me (offend me) if I already have hidden or deep beliefs that I’m a failure, otherwise I’d be more concerned with what’s happening on the inside of that person that would cause them to want to injure me with words.
In short, God gives me opportunities to seek out the things (thoughts, beliefs and behaviors) that do not serve me and this process helps me to be delivered from them.
I hope this was helpful 😘
